Due to favorable weather conditions, work on the new high school and career academy is progressing very well, reports Greene County school superintendent Tim Christensen
Persons who drive past the site will see the exterior walls for the career academy have been set. Work is now being done to set the steel that will form the structure for the roof. Work is also being done on underground utilities that will service the career academy. In the next month concrete floors will be poured and roofing the career academy will begin.
Block work is now being done on the academic wing of the high school, to the east of the career academy. The elevator shaft and the stair towers to service the second floor (see photo) are now being constructed. Precast panels forming the outside walls of the academic wing will be set over the course of the next two weeks.
The footings for the gymnasium (south of the academic wing) have been poured.
Site work is also taking place. Work is being completed on the south parking lot and work is also being done to connect the south retention pond to the storm sewer.
